Caroline Shanor

Caroline Shanor focuses her practice on title, transactional, regulatory and due diligence matters, particularly rendering drilling and division order title opinions on fee, federal, and state lands. Prior to The Shanor Group, Caroline managed the oil and gas title practice group at a national law firm dedicated to serving the oil and gas industry.

Upon graduation from Columbia University in New York, Caroline worked as a landman for a Houston independent working with mineral titles and other land related activities.  That exposure validated her decision to make a career in the oil patch.  Caroline received her JD from South Texas College of Law in 2010 and is licensed to practice in Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming.  Caroline is a Board Member on the Wyoming Combat Sports Commission.

Daniel Franklin

Daniel Franklin’s practice focuses on assisting companies acquire and divest real property and the negotiation of master service agreements and other commercial contracts. Additionally, Daniel assists oil and gas companies with oil and gas title and transactional services. He represents oil and gas companies in the purchase and sale of properties and in the negotiation and drafting of exploration, operating, leasing, and master service agreements. Mr. Franklin also assists clients with various title issues, including the preparation of title opinions covering fee, state, and federal lands.

Daniel earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he served as the editor-in-chief of the Oil & Gas, Nat. Resources & Energy Journal. He graduated with a M.Ed. and B.S. from the University of Oklahoma. While in undergrad, Mr. Franklin played football for the University of Oklahoma and was a four-year letter winner and Academic All Big 12.

Nick Moore

Nicholas (Nick) Moore’s practice focuses on oil and gas title examination and rendering acquisition and drilling and division order title opinions for oil and gas companies.

Prior to joining Shanor & Franklin, Nick worked for law firms in Denver and Dallas where he prepared acquisition and drilling and division order title opinions for various oil and gas companies covering assets in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Ohio.

Nick earned his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.

Outside of practicing law, Nick enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, tennis, and football.

Rebecca Mickey

Rebecca Mickey focuses her practice on title and due diligence matters. Prior to joining Shanor & Franklin, Rebecca was the manager at an oil and gas operator in Oklahoma, where she was in charge of title, leasing, regulatory and curative work for their operations. Rebecca was also the Prospect Manager of a national brokerage firm where she managed projects in the Rocky Mountain region. The projects involved lease negotiation and acquisition, surface use agreement negotiation, pre and post-acquisition due diligence, title reports and title curative.

Rebecca graduated from the University of California, San Diego and earned her J.D. at Suffolk University in 2006. She is licensed to practice in Washington and Oklahoma. Rebecca is not licensed in Colorado.

Scott Valent

Scott Valent is an energy and real estate attorney who resides in the foothills west of Golden, Colorado. Scott earned his B.S. in Natural Resources Management from Colorado State University and his J.D./LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver. Early in his legal career, Scott worked as a petroleum landman assisting several clients with the acquisition of fee leasehold interests across Colorado and Utah. After transitioning to an oil & gas attorney, Scott’s primary focus has been on drafting drilling and division order title opinions covering fee, federal and state mineral interests in the D.J. Basin of Colorado and the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. Outside of the office, Scott enjoys cycling, snowboarding and climbing the highest peaks of Colorado and the Western United States.

Jason Hubbert

Jason Hubbert has focused his practice on mastering oil and gas titles, rendering drilling and division order title opinions for industry leaders in various jurisdictions. His experience includes state, federal, and Indian lands. Jason’s practice also includes advising landowners on various property issues; drafting deeds, covenants, and leases; and representing clients in quiet title and similar actions.

Jason earned his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, receiving various honors and awards and graduating Order of the Coif. While there, he served as Articles Editor for Oklahoma Law Review and completed a semester externship in the Office of the Legal Advisor, U.S. State Department.

Prior to law school, Jason attended seminary and worked in various areas of Christian ministry and education. He remains active in his local church.

When not working, Jason enjoys attending NBA games and concerts. His hobbies include restoring midcentury modern pieces and designing and constructing furniture.

Julie Clark

Julie Clark is an energy attorney focusing on oil and gas title examination and rendering acquisition and drilling and division order title opinions for oil and gas companies, as well curing title defects and probating estates to clear title to oil and gas/mineral interests. Additionally, she focuses on public utility regulation representing a large utility customer (a Fortune 100 Company) as a stakeholder in electric and renewable energy matters before the public utility commissions in various jurisdictions. Julie is admitted to practice law in Colorado, Texas, and North Dakota. She earned her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, and her B.A. from the University of Iowa. She is involved in various non-profit organizations, including the Women’s Energy Network, Denver Association of Oil and Gas Title Attorneys, Denver Association of Professional Landmen, and iResQ.co, an animal welfare organization.

 

Jeffrey Flege

Jeffrey Flege’s practice focuses on oil and gas title examination and rendering acquisition and drilling and division order title opinions for oil and gas companies for assets located in Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, New Mexico and Texas. Jeffrey earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2010, and his B.S. from The Ohio State University in 1998.

Kim Puckett

Kim Puckett focuses her practice on a wide array of Texas oil and gas issues, including the rendering of acquisition, drilling, and division order title opinions and the negotiating and drafting of oil and gas leases, agreements, and contracts.   Prior to joining Shanor & Franklin, Kim was a partner in a Fort Worth-based oil and gas firm where she rendered and reviewed title opinions covering oil and gas properties across the State of Texas, including the Permian Basin, Haynesville Shale, Eagle Ford Shale, and Barnett Shale.  Kim is also licensed in North Dakota and Kansas, where she has extensive experience rendering fee, state, and federal title opinions.

Kim earned her J.D. from South Texas College of Law, and her B.B.A. from Texas A&M University.  In 2012, Kim became Board Certification in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Delaney Lockwood-Romo

Delaney Lockwood-Romo is a paralegal with an emphasis on oil and gas title work. Delaney assists in the preparation of title opinions covering state, federal, and fee lands and has a working knowledge of divisions of interests, land descriptions, oil and gas leases, and assignments of oil and gas lease interests. Delaney has assisted in finalizing 500+ title opinions and is experienced in oil and gas commission filings. Delaney grew up in Texas and holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from Tarrant County College. Outside of work, she is a dedicated wife and mother who enjoys spending time with her family, camping with friends, and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Melinda Frazier

Melinda Frazier is an energy attorney who has focused her practice on title examination and the rendering of drilling and division order title opinions on fee, federal and state lands. Melinda earned her B.A. from Indiana University and her J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law where she focused on energy and natural resource law. Early in her professional career, she managed finance and business development for clients engaged in oil and gas operations in the Bakken, D.J., and Powder River Basins. While attending law school Melinda also completed her M.A. in Environment and Natural Resources where she became proficient in facilitating the process of finding collaborative solutions to complex natural resource issues. Collectively, she has over two decades of experience in energy transactions and is adept at contract review, negotiation, and mitigation of business risk.

In addition to oil and gas title examination, Melinda advises private landowners on various property issues including review of purchase and sale agreements and conducting due diligence of mineral assets. She is also a certified mediator for the Wyoming Department of Agriculture where she assists private individuals resolve agriculture and natural resource issues through alternative dispute resolution. Outside of the office she is an avid SCUBA diver, an accomplished pianist, and enjoys hiking in the Big Horn Mountains. She lives on a working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, Wyoming.

Cristine Carlson

Cristine Carlson focuses her practice on title examination and rendering drilling and division order and acquisition title opinions for companies with assets located in Texas, including the Permian Basin, Haynesville Shale and Barnett Shale. Cristine began her career in oil and gas, curing title issues for clients in Texas and Ohio. Cristine earned her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan School of Law in 2006, her B.A. from California State University at Long Beach, and is licensed in Texas.

Patrick Hoog

Patrick Hoog represents exploration and production companies in a variety of title and transactional matters. In addition to having authored numerous drilling and/or division order title opinions for producing and non-producing properties in Oklahoma and Texas, Patrick works closely with in-house land and division order personnel to resolve disputes with landowners and working interest partners. He has drafted a variety of upstream industry contracts and title curative instruments and advised clients on a wide range of legal issues associated with oil and gas development.

Prior to practicing law, Patrick played college football at Oklahoma State and the University of Texas at San Antonio, earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was a Case Editor on the Oil and Gas, Natural Resources and Energy Journal.
